A Long Step on the Journey

It’s been a while since I blogged regularly—a long while. For more than two years, I studied for my master’s in communication while continuing to work full time. With only so many hours in the day, some things—in my case, blogging—had to be sacrificed while I worked toward a greater goal.

I suppose that’s how it is for everyone pursuing a dream or a vision. Immediate desires and goals have to be put aside for the long-term vision to become a reality. That’s especially true when applied to a calling.

For me, the longer-term climb of earning a master’s is just one part of the bigger picture of my calling. Going back to school to be better equipped to take advantage of today’s communication-rich culture was an important, albeit long, step in my journey as a writer and communicator of truth. It’s a step I’m so privileged and thankful to have taken—and one I’m glad is finished!

During that season of study, something else exciting began to take shape: regular meetings with two writer friends to form the beginnings of an organization and publishing company. I’ll talk more about that in the days to come, especially since it includes the publication of my first book: Not Meant to Be, Trusting God for the Redemption of Singleness.

But for now, I just wanted to say I’m back, and to encourage you wherever you are on your journey to fulfilling your calling. You might be in the middle of a long step, or you might feel like every step is an uphill climb. You know what? Everything worthwhile is uphill. So keep going, and make what sacrifices you must. Never stop mining your potential to fulfill the vision for your life.

What sacrifices are you currently making in the journey toward fulfilling your calling?
